Forming vs. teaching, a few thoughts

Simply stated, I see * Train * primarily as a concentration in the study material, the system of student eventually assimilate, integrate and apply. Effective teachers rely on their own knowledge and confidence in their abilities, To get positive stories about good experiences and results. It is to begin a great place to, since most of these students require direction and pursue it, regardless of the discipline or study. Great teachers explain the enlightened purpose, the superhuman effort and unyielding commitment to a lifetime of study and application of their craft.

* Teaching *, requires, in my experience quite a precise direction and instruction in both basic and advanced techniques, Theories, with the necessary “Studies by error”, on the part of students and for the teachers. But the art of teaching covers the study and evaluation of the students themselves, their inner needs, true abilities and levels to exceed the motivation. A teacher, must be consistent with the idea, Self-images and the special challenges they confront the students in their studies, its. A true teacher must remain a true student.

Too often I have observed me with an arbitrary scale and utilized, with which progress is measured, and to evaluate a student result of the training. This instrument is often made on the basis of their own teacher training in recent years and is not necessarily rely on more objective or generally accepted standards of acceptance and adequacy.

If our methods of self-evaluation also prove to be faulty, we may have to confront this deficiency with the honest and intense study of the art and science of teaching. Maybe our expertise will prove to be in a certain area even more profit and more useful for our students. We do not owe our students better and more complete versions of ourselves? We do not owe ourselves and our mentors also have the same obligation?

I accept, that it is possible, both an effective and respected trainers, and to become a mature and wise teacher over time. It is also obvious, that a separate, but equally strong commitment must be made, to be so, themselves “Educate”, to strive to be worthy as well as our students themselves. It may well, that this example of humility and personal commitment to growth will in turn inspire our students, as a lesson for yourself, so they also want to grow and be.

Chances are, that most attempts at achieving only one dimension, be without the other. Wenn ja, this is not a failure, but a humble acceptance of our human limitations.

To be kind to others, actually begins so consistently friendly and forgiving of us to be self-. Could this be, what the late Shoji Nishio Shihan with his “Yurusu Budo” has meant? Methinks, It could be.

The study of the way is not only an exploration company, or a number of studies. It is not easy “a phase” we go through, on our way to maturity and self-discovery. Rather, it is a pact, we do with our inner self, is unconditionally, no expiration date has, and never at any time , be terminated by any reason. It is the reason.

Shidogeiko, is roughly in “Education by teaching” translated. It is an important part of the entire spectrum of training for which we decide. As such, deserves the highest effort, we can give, even if we are not less, in any of the other areas of the “Keiko” which we undergo every day with all my heart.

Instructor or teacher, in the end it matters little, for an outside observer.

It means, the universe, for the teachers and the students.
