I stared into the eyes

I gazed into the eyes if an unknown face, and much to my surprise.
He stared right back, without fear or slack, and a kindly look did arise.

He wouldn’t budge, like a lump of sludge, his demeanor quite serene.
Although he seemed all covered in green, he really was ever so clean.

When I grow up, I hope to be, as confident and at ease.
As this tiny fellow, who appeared quite mellow, and so ready and willing to please.
