Schönmalven

Abutilon (meist Schönmalven genannt) bezeichnet eine Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Malvengewächse (Malvaceae), die etwa 200 Arten umfasst. Aus einigen Arten wurden zahlreiche Sorten als Zierpflanzen gezüchtet.

Die meisten der Arten stammen aus Südamerika und sind immergrün. Einige sind in den kühleren Gebirgswäldern Chiles beheimatet und sind laubabwerfend.

Abutilon-Arten sind meist verholzende Pflanzen: Halbsträucher, Sträucher oder kleine Bäume, von denen die überwiegende Anzahl immergrün ist. Die vegetativen Pflanzenteile sind behaart. Die wechselständigen Laubblätter sind in Blattstiel und Blattspreite gegliedert. Die Blattspreite ist einfach, selten gelappt (Abutilon pictum) and pinnately with heart-shaped base. The blooms sit individually or in pairs in the leaf axils or in few-flowered inflorescences. Die zwittrigen, radiärsymmetrischen Blüten sind fünfzählig. It is not a by-cup available.
